In this role you will:
Communicate clearly with baristas and management
Help baristas during busy hours when the café gets crowded
Work together with the team to improve service and operations
Help create a positive and supportive work environment
Assist with opening or closing the café when required
As a Shift Supervisor, you will also help manage cash operations during your shift.
Your responsibilities include:
Ensuring baristas follow proper cash handling procedures
Managing void transactions or payment mistakes correctly
Completing end-of-shift cash reconciliation and register records
This role can be fast-paced and requires strong multitasking skills.
Some common challenges include:
Learning and remembering all Second Cup drink recipes
Understanding the features and benefits of each product
Handling face-to-face customer complaints professionally
Troubleshooting equipment issues when they arise
Keeping coffee fresh while reducing product waste
Suggesting products to customers to increase sales
Managing multiple tasks such as cleaning, restocking, and serving guests
Training and supporting baristas during shifts
Working different hours or days depending on café needs
To succeed in this role, you should have:
Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
Good teamwork and communication skills
Experience in cash handling, retail, or food service (preferred)
Knowledge of products and selling techniques
The ability to handle multiple tasks at once
A professional attitude and the ability to stay calm in busy situations
